More about Fleas

Many of us here in the United States, especially NYC have either a cat or a dog.  Also here at www.nypestpro.com we too have three of our own puppies Bella, Danee, and Louiee.  We know how to take care of our animals as well as taking care of business when it comes down to bugs and things of that nature we kill bugs! It’s in our nature!.  In NYC most of our pets are on some flea control medication, but many NY natives don’t think it is necessary to apply because we don’t have many high grass areas.  Well I am here to tell you that you should protect your pet from these ugly bugs because in NYC having a pet with fleas can make your life a living hell.

These nasty bugs are annoying and not only to our pets, but to humans as well.  Did you know that fleas can cause flea allergy dermatitis, tapeworms, secondary skin infections and in some even anemia.  Many of our NYC dwellers are rarely infested with fleas but we know what we’re doing at www.nypestpro.com when it comes down to killing these critters.  Humans can get fleas too! So don’t think that you aren’t prone to infestation because you're human, these guys are out for blood and yours is as good as any. Bugs don’t discriminate.

If you’re anything like us here at Beyond Pest Control, where our homes have carpeting, then having fleas would not be ideal.  One way to get rid of them would be of course calling us at Beyond Pest Control, where we use what we call an IGR or insect growth regulator and what that does is stop hunger, growth and reproduction.  The next preventative method you may be able to use would be to use a botanical method which is Pyrethrins, derived from the flowers of chrysanthemum, and rotenone from the roots of derris, cube and cracca plants, are good contact insecticides. Linalool (Demize), a citrus peel extract, is a natural, fast-acting flea killer, giving short residual control. Other botanicals include d-Limonene (Flea-Stop), citronella oil, eucalyptus oil, pennyroyal oil, balsam, lavender oil, calendula, comfrey, rosemary, tea tree oil and yucca.  Also I know many of us in NYC can’t lift up a carpet and beat it, but vacuum daily, and make sure that you protect your pet with products like frontline, especially in the summer time.
